Waqrapukara trek trip of 3 hour from Cusco driving by car, lies a stunning, Inca site, located high above the great Apurimac Canyon, Located in the Province of Acomayo, District of Huyqui at 4100metres/ 13450 feet. Waqrapukara name Its name means “The Horned Fortress” a great holy place , wonderful astronomical paradise , wonderful place to be in touch with ancient civilizations gods.

Trekking Cusco, we have one day trek or 2 day/1-night Waqrapukara Trek is a must for anyone wanting to visit this wonderful archaeological site before it is discovered by many visitors from all over the world . if we do two day Camping close to the ruins, under the star-filled Andean milky way , far from the new civilization , Waqrapukara is truly spectacular option to see a lost jewel of Andean people located at wonderful mountains of Cusco city on the province of Acomayo.

Itinerary

Day 1Trek Waqrapukara:

The trekking start near the lake Qenterococha , the hike to Waqrapukara, following an ancient Inca trail and passing small lakes with big views of Qenterococha and wonderful view of Waqrapukara too , of course will enjoy wonderful landscape with wonderful view . Trekking least 3-4 hours one way around 4 – 5 hours – 8 Km (around 5 miles one way )

Will trek mainly easy trail brings you to your camping for the night, high above the Apurimac Canyon, next to Waqrapucara itself. Enjoy Overnight at clear night will appreciate also the milky way.

Day 2Trek Waqrapukara:

Next day in the mornings you can explore this impressive site. While part of the site is Inca civilization and Chanca culture, Chanca civilizations are famous for their bloodiness in battle. Captured enemies were sometimes hung up and skinned alive, and their skulls made into drinking vessels.Finished our tour at Waqrapukara we will return to our Hiking another distance 8km ,other Hiking time 4 hrs to meet our driver and Return to Cusco .
